Parking in Mumbai is un-managed and haphazard. In our busy schedules and hectic lives, being late costs us a lot of time. In today's time, it has become a norm to leave the house
15-20 mins early just so that they can avoid traffic and find a proper place to park. There is a need to solve the underlying issue and provide for convenience and a better experience in order to eliminate the stress before any event or task.
The objective of this project was to come up with a service that would ease the life of the users by creating a seamless mobile application for the same.
WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?
PROBLEM
STATEMENT

"People who use private vehicles want to commute comfortably to the destination with a relaxed mind but have difficulty in finding parking since the slots are full or there is no organised system which makes them feel stressed and frustrated while driving and upon arrival"
COMPETITOR ANALYSIS
Managing the parking and regulating the entire parking system has always been a need that has been partially satisfied and executed by some parking companies in the USA, while India has had its fair share of trial and error with parking apps; Park + being the only competitor app which is still under development in India.

Along with the Indian competitor Park+, we also analysed a few parking apps from the USA. After analysing the various competitors, we created a table that compared Park+'s offerings and our (Park N Perch) potential offerings based on the aspects that were lacking in most of the apps.

In order to understand our user's behaviours and their understanding towards the components of the system with respect to other mobile apps, we created mental models v/s conceptual models chart on Miro.
The aim was to understand the user's expectations of the parking system while also jotting down our representation as the designer, of how our system should be interpreted by the user.

RESEARCH
The automobile industry has been expanding rapidly and the disposable incomes of people have been rising which has increased the purchase of private vehicles by almost 8% in the last year. In Mumbai, specially, the streets are very narrow which hardly leaves any space for a vehicle to be parked by individuals which results in increased time and effort to find a parking spot. According to a study, 30% traffic in Mumbai is caused by drivers searching for a parking spot which is the reason for frustration among people.

LEARNINGS
-
Actively listening to understand team's perspectives enhances and enhances effective communication
-
Incorporating user feedback iteratively throughout the project helps ensure that the final product aligns with user expectations, leading to a more successful and user-friendly outcome
-
Maintaining a record of changes made and the rationale behind reduces the risk of making the same mistakes or repeating unsuccessful design decisions and helps explain design choices and justifications during presentations or reviews
